Artificial Intelligence Use in Psychiatry: How to Balance Innovation and Risk

AI has become a significant catalyst for change across various domains, including psychiatry. Its ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and make predictions offers the potential to transform psychiatric diagnosis and treatment. As AI technology advances, it is crucial to address ethical concerns in healthcare, protect patient
privacy, and establish proper oversight. This will ensure that AI’s benefits are fully realized while preserving the core values and ethical principles of psychiatry.

This webinar will assist participants in understanding the potential risks of using AI in patient care, including for children and adolescents. It will cover how to safely incorporate AI into office policies and procedures to reduce the risk of complaints. The session will also discuss the use of AI in psychiatry and offer strategies to decrease liability.

Educational Objectives:

  • Analyze the potential risks associated with utilizing artificial intelligence when treating psychiatric patients
  • Develop office practice policies and procedures for the utilization of artificial intelligence
  • Apply best practices when using artificial intelligence in a psychiatry practice to reduce the risk of a medical malpractice claim or licensing board complaint
