The Federation of Texas Psychiatry unites Texas' professional psychiatric organizations. Voting member organizations - the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians, the Texas Academy of Psychiatry, and the Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Associate member organizations - the Texas Foundation for Psychiatric Education and Research, the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association - together represent about 45,000 physicians in Texas united in advocacy for patients and quality psychiatric care.

TEXAS SOCIETY OF CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRY

The Texas Society of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (TSCAP), a Regional Council of The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, was founded in October 1966 and Incorporated in 1967 as a nonprofit organization. The society is dedicated to the care and treatment of mental illness specializing in children and adolescents.

TSCAP is governed by its Executive Committee, elected by the membership. Currently, there are 400 plus trained and licensed psychiatric physician (MD/DO) members.

The objectives of TSCAP are as follows:

To provide a forum for the discussion of subjects related to normal growth and development and normal emotional needs of children and adolescents.

To provide a forum for discussion of subjects related to pathological states of children and adolescents.

To provide the means for the exchange of ideas, relative to the resources and needs of this state and region.

To provide a discussion group for the advancement of child and adolescent psychiatry.

To promote those professions and fields allied to child and adolescent psychiatry which endeavor to meet the emotional needs of children and adolescents.

To provide information, opinion, and research capacity, to advocate for the maintenance of established resources, and to promote the establishment of practices which contribute to the mental health of children and adolescents.

To facilitate communication with other organizations of child and adolescent psychiatrists.

                TSCAP Summer Conference 2010
